As always I’ve highlighted the ingredients that we need to take a closer look at.

Questionable Ingredients

Palm Oil

Palm oil is a very controversial ingredient, because it is a common ingredient in many products. The reason it’s so popular is the fact that it’s a very lucrative oil that can be produced per square meter. Palm oil is known for its amazing productivity and for a while it was not regulated.

The deforestation has forced wildlife away from their natural habitat and that is why many vegans are staying away from palm oil. However there is a way to make the palm oil more vegan-friendly and it’s called RSPO.

It’s a non-profit organization that helps companies produces sustainable palm oil with minimal impact on the environment.

Soy

Soy is the most common GMO crop in the US and most vegans tend to avoid GMO’s because of the high amount of herbicide that is required to grow the crops. The herbicide can pollute the surrounding ecosystem and cause severe damage to the environment.

Mono And Diglycerides

This ingredient can be sourced from both animals and plants.

Conclusion

It’s great that both products of Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry are vegan-friendly. Common ingredients that is used in pastry products are milk and eggs, but fortunately for vegans, none of those ingredients are found in Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry.
