Questionable Ingredients

Natural Flavors

Natural flavors are an umbrella term, which means that companies can add any common ingredient they want to this main ingredient. This means that it can contain non-vegan ingredients and vegans would never know just my reading the ingredients label.

Vegans needs to careful when it comes to different flavoring ingredients and one example is vanilla flavor, where companies are allowed to use butt goo from beavers as an ingredient. This was disclosed by National Geographic.

Soy

Soy is a common ingredient in cooking sprays and it is 100% since it does not contain any ingredients derived from animals. However it’s also important to know that soy is one of the most common GMO crops in the US and this cause problems for vegans.

The reason is that it requires a high amount of herbicide to grow the crops and this can pollute the surrounding ecosystem causing severe damage to the environment. Therefore many vegans are staying away from GMO crops and look for products that has the label non GMO project.

Other Vegan Cooking Sprays

A lot of cooking sprays are vegan today and below I’ve listed a few more that might interest you.

Conclusion

It’s great that 2 out of 4 flavors of Happy Belly Cooking Spray are vegan, but the last 2 might also be vegan. The problem is that they contain natural flavors, which could contain ingredients derived from animals.
