There are no questionable or non-vegan ingredient in Chosen Foods Cooking Sprays, but I still want to mention two very common questionable ingredients that can be found in many cooking sprays and they are natural flavors and palm oil.
Natural Flavors
Natural flavors is a very common ingredient in many food products, but this ingredient is a problem for vegans. The reason is because it’s an umbrella term meaning that it often consists of several ingredients and source of these ingredients are never disclosed on the ingredients label.
This means that it could contain ingredients sourced from animals and vegans would never know this just by reading the ingredients label. Vegans needs to be careful when it comes to natural flavors and the only way to be sure it it’s vegan-friendly is to contact the company and ask.
Palm Oil
Palm oil is often used as an ingredient in many products and it’s actually a vegan ingredient. However there are a lot of deforestation taking place in order to grow these palm trees. The problem is, that it also affects the environment and wildlife and because of this, many vegans are staying away from products containing palm oil.
However there is a way to make sustainable palm oil that is vegan-friendly. It’s called RSPO and it’s a non-profit organisation that helps companies produce and buy sustainable palm oil with minimal impact on the environment and wildlife.
