Non-Vegan Ingredients
Milk
Since milk comes from cows, it’s not a vegan-friendly ingredient.
Questionable Ingredients
Natural Flavors
This is another ingredient we need to be careful about, because it’s an umbrella term, meaning that it often consists of several ingredient and the source of these ingredients are not disclosed on the ingredients label.
So natural flavors could contain ingredients from animals and you would not be able to know just by looking at the ingredients label.
Palm Oil
Palm oil is the most controversial vegetable oil in the world and has made the front page of many newspapers. It is a known fact that palm oil is a very profitable vegetable oil. This has attracted a lot of companies to the palm oil industry and for some time the production have gotten out of control with regard to the deforestation.
The deforestation has led to wildlife being forced away from their natural habitats. There is a way to make palm oil more vegan-friendly and that is called RSPO. This is a non-profit organisation that helps companies produce and buy sustainable palm oil.
This way the production have a minimal impact on the environment and the wildlife.
Vitamin A Palmitate & Mono And Diglycerides
These ingredients can be derived from animals and plants.
Soy & Corn
Corn and soy are two of the most common GMO crops in the US and many vegans will try and stay away from these. The reason for this is the high amount of herbicide that is needed in order for the crop to grow. This can pollute the surrounding ecosystem and damage it severely.
Conclusion
Brummel And Brown not unlike many other butter and margarine brands use milk in their product. This makes the product unsuitable for vegans, but luckily for many vegans there are many brands that choose to not use milk in their butter and margarine.
