As always I’ve highlighted the ingredients that we need to take a closer look at.

Non-Vegan Ingredients

Gelatin

Since gelatin is made from animal bones and ligaments, it’s not suitable for vegans.

Questionable Ingredients

Sugar

Sugar is a tricky ingredient within the vegan community because there is an instance where sugar could be classified as non-vegan. The cane sugar often needs to be refined to be used in a product and in this process the sugar is also bleached.

A common method is to use bone char from dead cows and this has made many vegans upset. Exploiting dead animals in the production process would make the sugar non-vegan.

Natural Flavor

This is another ingredient that’s a questionable one for vegans. The reason for that is that natural flavors is an umbrella term, meaning that it consists of several ingredients and the source of these ingredients are not disclosed on the ingredients label.

This means that natural flavors could contain animal-derived ingredients you would not be able to see this just by reading the ingredients label.

Soy

Soy is one of the most common GMO crops in the US and a major problem with these crops is that they require a high amount of herbicide to grow. This can pollute the surrounding ecosystem and can cause severe damage to the environment.

Vegan Alternative To Frosted Mini-Wheats

There are many vegan-friendly cereals and one favorite of mine is Cascadian Farm.

They have several vegan-friendly flavors and they taste amazing.
